Not that long ago, the South Korea-based car maker Hyundai had to face labor unrest over demands of increase in wages and extension of benefits, which had brought the car production at a standstill. Still, in 2011, the company had managed to create enough ripples by its newly launched fifth generation of Elantra (formerly known as Lantra). The cars in this generation were fitted with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that was good for 136 lb-ft of torque and 138 hp. Moreover, the transmission was either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual. With these features and power, no wonder this car is one of the top selling cars in the used and salvage segments. Talking about used and salvage cars available at an affordable price and rock-solid safety features, Hyundai Elantra is still a favorite at car auctions.
So what are the limitations?
The latest models have become much quieter with upgrades to their engine, but to achieve similar levels of noiseless drive in an older model salvage car, you will need comprehensive repairs. Of course, you cannot expect it to be as good as a brand new Elantra, but considering the value for money, this drawback easily fades away.
Buying a company certified pre-owned vehicle is preferred by many, but this variety of used car can never give as much value for money as a salvaged one can. You only need to put in a little bit of effort in finding an online salvage auction site and searching for an Elantra that can be used after affordable repairs. All things considered, the Hyundai Lantra will surely be a top choice among salvage cars.
