1. Ford F-Series
The most popular vehicle was once again the F-Series which sold 787,422 units in the year 2020. For the 44th straight year, the series of trucks also managed to claim the title of America’s best-selling pickup.
2. Chevrolet Silverado
The Chevrolet Silverado family of trucks comes in second with a total of 586,675 units sold in 2020. Heavy duty trucks pushed more units (14 percent increase) when compared to light-duty models, but overally, the series did better than in 2019.
3. Ram Pickups
Ram pickups also performed exceptionally well, pushing 563,676 units, down 11 percent from 2019 figures. The exceptional performance was partly buoyed by the introduction of a performance-focused TRX that is fitted with a Hellcat V8.
4. Toyota RAV4
The Toyota RAV4 outperformed its competitor, the Honda CR-V by approximately 100,000 units to reach 430,387 units. This was still some stellar performance despite a drop of 3.9 percent from 2019 figures.
5. Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V had a good year in 2020 which was driven by the release of a refresh model featuring a hybrid powertrain and fresh styling. The car pushed 333,502 units, down 13.2 percent from 2019 figures.
6. Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry sedan held out its own in a sea of successful crossovers. It managed to retain the title of best-selling passenger car, even in the face of a 13 percent drop in sales. The Camry sold 294,348 units.
7. Chevrolet Equinox
Despite a delayed launch of the updated Equinox to 2022, the car still managed to pull enough sales to land in the top ten. It recorded 270,994 units in sales, a drop of 21.7 percent from the previous year.
8. Honda Civic
Despite being on the market for some time, the Honda Civic still managed to record a whooping 261,225 units in sales for the year 2020, which is 19.8 percent less compared to 2019. The 2021 model year is expected to do even better.
9. GMC Sierra
The GMC Sierra family experienced a rise of 9.9 percent in sales, landing at 253,016 units. It managed to outperform its stablemate, the Chevy Silverado. It’s one of the few in the industry that actually recorded an increase in sales.
10. Toyota Tacoma
The Toyota Tacoma outshined its big sibling, the Toyota Tundra, recording a massive 238,806 units, down 4 percent from 2019. It is the only midsize pickup to make it into the top ten.
